The Day of the Interview

   The Day of the Interview

The interview is the final step in the employment process.  Your interview may be a one on one interview, a series of one on one interviews, or a group interview.  Regardless of the type of interview, you will be evaluated on your skills, personality, adaptability, and your response to the interview questions.

Successful interview preparation includes preparing yourself emotionally.  You

should review your values, interests, skills, and personal strengths before each

interview so that you are prepared to let the interviewer know why they should

select you over the other candidates.  You should be sure to present a positive

attitude and prepare to present a positive and energetic performance to your

interviewer.

Here are some suggestions:

  1. Be on time, don’t be too early, and never be late.

  2. Allow as much uninterrupted time for the interview as it may require.

  3. Don’t ask anyone to go with you to the interview.

  4. Prepare and take several copies of your résumé to supply at the interview.

  5. Take backup information with you, such as your driver’s license & social security card.

  6. Take a notepad and pen to write notes.  Be sure to make notes during the interview.

  7. Do not chew gum during the interview.
